Scanning your paintings make a HUGE difference!

A definite MUST for all artists is finding a place with a large format scanner. Try googling blueprint companies in your area and most of them will get the job done right for a small fee (these cost around $30 a piece to scan). Look at the quality of these 3 paintings once they were scanned rather than the same paintings I photographed and put up on the blog in May. HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! Colors are almost dead on and there are no blurry spots. A great tip I wish I knew before I wasted so much time taking bad photographs is that if you plan on making prints of your work to sell, finding a scanner is a must!

(NEW) FULL HOUSE PAINTING!!!

For the past 3 months I have been working on a 4ft. x 4ft. painting of the cast of 90's TV show Full House. Over 200 hours later, the painting is finally finished and Thank God (Bob Saget). I was honestly sick of painting it after the first 100 hours and just wanted it to be done. The absurdity of painting a Full House Stained Glass themed painting was incredibly funny to me at first but after realizing I had spent the past 3 months working my ass off, day and night, on a painting that includes people like Jon Stamos, I can honestly say that the hilarity of such a strange idea wore off and I ended up wondering what the hell I was doing with my life...Anyway, finally, 3 months later. Here it is! Please comment and tell me what you think, but in the words of Uncle Jesse, "have mercy!"

Paying Tribute To Morgantown's Young Artists

I have recently moved away from my home for the past few years of Morgantown WV where I was lucky enough to meet and work beside quite a few up and coming artists that I hope will continue to expand and produce their body of work. I am now residing in Charleston SC until January when I move to NYC, but I would like to pay tribute to a few of the local Morgantown artists I have met along the way. Morgantown WV may not be the most well known spot to look for new artists but I assure you that isn't holding any of these hard working newcomers back. I would like to give credit where it is deserved and I feel that these few people have earned it.

Full House Painting (in progress)

I have currently been working on a rather large Stained Glass Series Painting of the cast of "Full House". I have run into a few problems here and there but now things seem to be on track and I am working on this full force. I enjoyed painting dead rock stars as saints but now I have decided to pretty much portray whoever I want as a saint so why not Bob Saget and his whole crew? Check back in the upcoming weeks for the entire finished painting.

ART/HOUSE SHOWS IN WV

A good friend of mine by the name of Logan Jones has been kind enough the past few months to allow hundreds of creeps play music, put up art, and attend art show/parties at her house. So far an estimate of 75 to 100 people have showed up at each one and theyre only getting bigger. More people need to follow in her footsteps and take supporting local artists and musicians into their own hands. Thanks Logan. (Keep an eye out if you're in WV for the next show at 508 Beechurst)

These are the 5 paintings (all of which are about 3 by 4 ft.) I completed for my last semester at WVU. I really worked my ass off night and day to get these paintings and a whole new body of work. HERE IS MY ARTIST STATEMENT:

My paintings are a tangible representation of my passion for music and the iconic artists who have most impacted my life. Many people define their spirituality in traditional and accepted terms. They find solace and comfort in time-honored customs. For me however, music has always been the vessel that allows me to feel connected to a higher plane. Music gives me inspiration, it brings me peace and it is the catalyst that fuels my desire to create. In my latest body of work, I have incorporated the universal religious imagery of stained glass to depict the sacred status of some of my greatest musical influences. By fusing the techniques of caricatures, cartooning and real life portraiture I hope to demonstrate the immense impact that these musical legends have had on my life.

123 PROM

123 Pleasant St. has always been my favorite place in WV and these photos should prove why. I have always felt that musically and artistically this venue/bar is the only place I can go to meet and hang with other intelligent and interesting people who don't only talk about football, cheap beer, and getting ass. Every year 123 has a prom/dance party and luckily, thanks to my stunningly gorgeous date and weird best friend (2 extremely talented artists), who for some reason always finds an excuse to dress in drag, this year was a blast.
